I've been contracted as a facilitator for the Cambodia Design Summit in December 2015. The Design Summit program is an educational study tour designed to provide students with professional work experience while allowing them to develop a deeper understanding of the role engineering and technology play in creating positive change within communities.

One of the key strategies in Ghana to reduce the number of out of school children is the delivery of Complementary Basic Education (CBE). DFID is supporting its delivery in coordination with the Government of Ghana. The program aims to reach 120,000 out of school children over three years. A key priority in the third year of the program is sustainability, including the Government’s capacity to manage, fund, and scale post-2015. As such, there was an urgent need to understand the characteristics, challenges, and success factors of two different approaches to CBE. I was contracted to provide technical expertise in the area of CBE and international education research, and to ensure quality assurance of the research into the two approaches to CBE.

Victorian Curriculum & Assessment Authority

The VCAA partnered with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) to support the implementation of the Victorian Government’s Vision for Languages Education. The VCAA and DEECD wanted to identify whether any digital tools existed to support teachers’ assessment and monitoring of students’ language proficiency and progress. I was contracted to conduct an international review of school sector language proficiency digital assessment tools. I reviewed the current scope of such tools, the curriculum frameworks or standards against which they were aligned, documented the validity, reliability, and usability of such tools, and reviewed digital platforms on which such tools are currently deployed. I reported directly to the Executive Director of the VCAA who commented on the timeliness, scope, and high quality of the final research report.
